What
is Counselling?
Counselling
provides a safe, trusting and nurturing environment
to enable you to look at the issues in your
life and to make choices about what is important
to you and thus facilitate the changes which
you believe are necessary for you.
What happens in the counselling session?
My intention is that we can build an even relationship
where I can understand you and your issues and
to enable you to find the answers which are
right for you. It is also important to develop
a relationship which is also trusting. Each
session lasts about one hour and we would normally
meet weekly.
What do people talk about?
What you talk about in counselling is up to
you. People bring many different issues to counselling.
Some examples are: Problems in relationships,
stress, anxiety, depression, bereavement, self
harm, trauma, abuse, low self esteem.
Confidentiality
What happens in the counselling setting is between
the counsellor and client. The only exception
to this is if someone is at risk and that would
be discussed
